An infrared visual experiment system is adopted to investigate the evaporation characteristic of liquid layer in a horizontal Teflon cylindrical cavity with uniform bottom temperature. The unsteady evolution of the surface temperature of the liquid layer, and its distribution characteristics and temperature dispersion coefficient are analysed and discussed. The experiment results indicate that there are three liquid layer evaporation evolutionary characteristics under different condition, including the evaporation dominated initially by the Rayleigh effect, evaporation impacted initially by both the Rayleigh effect and Marangoni effect, and evaporation dominated initially by the Marangoni effect. The number of high temperature extreme point is significantly affected by the Rayleigh effect and Marangoni effect. Both of the temperature difference between the wafer wall and maximum temperature surface temperature and average liquid surface temperature decreases gradually during the evaporation dominated initially by the Rayleigh effect, evaporation impacted initially by both the Rayleigh effect and Marangoni effect, and remain basically unchanged during evaporation dominated initially by the Marangoni effect. Under the impact of Rayleigh effect, the surface temperature is with less uniform, and the surface temperature dispersion coefficient is large and has obvious fluctuation.
