More electric aircraft are developing rapidly, with advantages of high efficiency, low emissions, and lightweight design enabled by the adoption of DC power supply systems. The stable and reliable operation of the DC power supply systems is critical to ensuring safe and efficient aircraft performance. The objective of this paper is to propose an energy-efficient low-loss DC interruption technology based on magnetically controlled current zero-crossing to enhance the reliability and energy efficiency of the power systems. The proposed interruption technology enhances the fault current interruption capability and improves the energy transmission efficiency. Experimental investigations are conducted to analysis the interruption characteristics with different parameters, revealing the complex coupling between vacuum arc characteristics and interruption parameters and identifying feasible parameter design ranges. The results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves an interruption capability of 1200 V/2190 A with an interruption time of 5.86 ms. The interruption current is 2.64 times that reported for a conventional passive interruption method under a 500 V/830 A condition, while switching device losses are reduced by 37.5% compared with solid-state interruption approaches, thereby improving energy transmission efficiency.
