In contemporary times, human life has become increasingly complex. For various reasons, individuals are often required to travel outside their homes. The choice of transport depends on the nature of the task, its importance, and the time constraints involved. Many people today own private vehicles; others rely on public transport-such as trains and government buses-or private transport services to reach their destinations. In one such instance, a woman (referred to by the pseudonym 'Jimmy') was traveling by train and bus when the bus she was in met with an accident before she could reach her destination. She sustained severe head injuries and subsequently passed away while undergoing treatment. This article examines the impact of this event on her family members from the perspective of social work. Accidents are unexpected and tragic occurrences in human life. When a family member dies in an accident, the consequences are not limited to the individual alone; they affect the entire family. In particular, the accidental death of a breadwinner forces the family to confront a range of financial, social, psychological, emotional, and familial challenges. In such a situation, changes occur in the lifestyles, financial circumstances, social relationships, and future planning of family members. This research article examines the social, economic, psychological, and emotional impacts on family members affected by an accidental death, viewed through the lens of social work. It further clarifies the role of social workers in assisting such families, highlighting the importance of counseling, social support, government schemes, and rehabilitation.
