This study examined the relationship between family dynamics and the academic achievement of adolescent students in public secondary schools in Bomadi Education Zone, Delta State, Nigeria. It focused on family structure, parental socioeconomic status, parenting style and parental involvement. A correlational research design was adopted. The population comprised 10,524 students in 40 public secondary schools across Bomadi, Patani and Burutu Local Government Areas. A sample of 385 students was selected using Taro Yamane’s formula and multistage sampling. Data were collected using the Academic Achievement of Adolescent Students Questionnaire and the Impact of Family Dynamics Questionnaire. The instruments had reliability coefficients of 0.78 and 0.77, respectively, determined using Cronbach’s alpha. Mean and standard deviation answered the research questions, while simple linear regression tested the null hypotheses at the 0.05 significance level. Findings indicated that family structure, parental socioeconomic status, parenting style and parental involvement significantly influenced students’ academic achievement. The study concluded that family dynamics play an important role in adolescents’ academic success. It recommended counselling support, financial assistance, parent education programmes and stronger school-family communication to improve students’ educational outcomes.
