3D-modelling-guided ductal stenting with pulmonary artery banding successfully bridges an extremely premature infant to repair.
Case Report (n=1)
Demonstrates the feasibility of a novel 3D-modelling-guided hybrid palliation strategy as a bridge to complete repair for complex congenital heart disease in an extremely premature, very-low-birthweight infant.

Hypothesis-generating for 3D-guided hybrid palliation in extremely premature infants; prospective trials needed before clinical adoption.
A common arterial trunk with an interrupted aortic arch is a rare and complex CHD. Although single-stage neonatal repair can be performed in term infants, prematurity, low birthweight, and complex/multiple defects are major risk factors for in-hospital mortality. We report the first patient-specific, three-dimensional-modelling-guided, off-pump transaortic ductal stenting combined with bilateral pulmonary artery banding, performed as a bridge to successful complete repair in a very-low-birthweight, extremely premature infant with this anomaly.

Padovani et al. (2026) conducted a case report in Common arterial trunk with interrupted aortic arch (n=1). Patient-specific, 3D-modelling-guided, off-pump transaortic ductal stenting combined with bilateral pulmonary artery banding was evaluated on Successful bridge to complete surgical repair. 3D-modelling-guided off-pump transaortic ductal stenting with bilateral pulmonary artery banding successfully bridged 1 extremely premature, very-low-birthweight infant to complete repair.
