The materials of the article present the results of research on the dynamic characteristics of an open wagon on bogies of the model 18–100 with different versions of elastic spring suspension elements: cylindrical springs with a round coil cross-section, conical springs, leaf springs and bilinear springs. To determine the most rational version of the elastic spring suspension elements of an open wagon, mathematical modeling of its dynamics was carried out. The open wagon is considered as a system of three bodies interacting with each other: a body with a frame and two bogies. It is considered that the open wagon moves along a rail track, which has irregularities described by a harmonic law. The track has elastic-viscous characteristics. The oscillations of the open wagon in the vertical plane are considered: jumping and galloping. The calculations showed that the best dynamics of the open wagon occur when using bilinear springs in spring sets. The result obtained opens up further prospects for the development of research on the use of bilinear springs in spring sets of freight wagon bogies. The conducted research will contribute to improving the safety and efficiency of rail transport operation.
