This cross-sectional study of 1,479 young Chinese women found that a history of acne was associated with a 29% higher prevalence of premenstrual disorders (PMDs), with the association more apparent for physical than affective symptom burden. Among participants with both conditions and valid onset data, acne was more often reported to have begun before PMD symptoms, although the retrospective design does not establish temporal or causal relationships. These findings suggest that acne history may provide a useful clinical cue for recognizing premenstrual symptom burden in young women and support further prospective investigation of shared hormonal or inflammatory susceptibility pathways.
