This study investigates gas drainage mechanisms and techniques for low-permeability coal seams. It examines coal structure, gas-flow behaviour, permeability controls, and internationally applied drainage methods. Permeabilityenhancement approaches, including hydraulic fracturing, hydraulic slotting, and controlled blasting, are evaluated alongside borehole design and operating factors. Sensitivity analysis assesses the effects of coal-seam permeability, gas pressure, and drainage configuration on performance. The study integrates theoretical mechanisms with engineering practices to support safer mining, improved methane recovery, and reduced greenhouse-gas emissions.
