Studies on the effectiveness of adsorption treatment of model wastewater contaminated with oil and oil products was conducted. It was demonstrated that a sorbent based on vermiculite, modified with the hydrophobizing agent «MK-10» (potassium alkylsiliconate, at a concentration of 0.5–2 %), achieves an adsorption capacity of 12 g/g for oil products. The adsorption capacity increases in the following order: diesel fuel (DT-L) (3.6–5.07) < gasoline (AI-92) (4.8–6.6) < aviation kerosene (TS-1) (5.2–7.6) < crude oil from the Volkovskoye field in the Republic of Bashkortostan (6.76–11.7), when tested with emulsions containing 9.69–162.84 g/L of oil or oil products. The optimal concentration of potassium alkylsiliconate is 1 % wt. of the vermiculite. «Nanocarbon» (an experimental sample of activated carbon produced via a proprietary dispersion technology) and a reference sample – BAU-A activated carbon – demonstrated high adsorption efficiency, ranging from 98.5 % to 99 % (tested on model wastewater containing petroleum solvents, such as Nefras and white spirit, at concentrations of 50–118 mg/L).
