This article examines the role of cultural heritage in the development of tourism in Uzbekistan, focusing on the historical cities of Samarkand and Bukhara. These cities represent important centers of historical, architectural, religious, and cultural heritage and play a significant role in strengthening Uzbekistan's position in the international tourism market. The study analyzes the relationship between cultural heritage preservation and tourism development, with particular attention to economic growth, employment generation, local entrepreneurship, and the preservation of national identity. A qualitative research approach is employed through the analysis of academic literature, international conventions, UNESCO documentation, and official materials. Comparative analysis is used to identify the similarities and differences between Samarkand and Bukhara in terms of historical resources, architectural characteristics, tourism opportunities, and heritage management challenges. The findings indicate that cultural heritage tourism contributes to regional economic development, investment attraction, the expansion of tourism services, and the preservation of traditional cultural practices. However, tourism development also creates challenges related to the conservation of historical monuments, excessive visitor flows, infrastructure management, and the commercialization of cultural values. The article emphasizes the importance of sustainable tourism planning, digital transformation, effective heritage management, and active community participation. It concludes that integrating cultural heritage preservation with tourism development can strengthen the competitiveness of Uzbekistan's tourism sector and support the long-term socioeconomic development of historical cities.
