The article examines the perceptions of children and socio‐educational agents regarding child participation in Teo (A Coruña, Spain), a municipality recognised as a Child Friendly City. A mixed exploratory‐descriptive study is conducted using questionnaires ( N = 141) and semi‐structured interviews (8). The results reveal progress in the commitments made to promote children's participation, with the municipal council emerging as a conducive space for its realisation. Accountability and raising awareness among adults emerge as the main challenges to increasing participation and, consequently, actual levels of democracy in the municipality.
