In this study, tin oxide micro boxes were synthesized by the liquid phase precipitation method, and tin dioxide micro boxes were prepared by high temperature calcination. Then, Pd nanoparticles were deposited to the surface of tin dioxide micro boxes by light-assisted reduction. The Pd@SnO 2 micro box sensor has excellent sensitivity to isopropanol and hydrogen. At 200 °C, the response value of the sensor to 100 ppm isopropanol reaches 21.5, and the response/recovery time is 12/17 s. At 60 °C, the sensor has a response value of 12.4 to 100 ppm hydrogen, a response/recovery time of 53/13 s, and excellent selectivity. This improvement in sensitivity can be attributed to the synergistic effect between special micro box morphology, palladium-induced sensitization, and electronic regulation. This study provides a new strategy for the synthesis of high-performance sensing materials.
