Platynereis sp. Fig. 11 A, B Material examined. MZB.Pol.00280 (1 specimen), collected by Joko Pamungkas on 15 December 2017 from Lembeh Island: Mawali Urban Village, North Lembeh District, Bitung City, North Sulawesi Province (1°26'35.3"N, 125°13'48.9"E). Diagnosis. Single specimen complete. Body color in alcohol whitish cream with anterior dorsal segments having brown spots forming transverse lines (one line on each segment). Prostomium with entire anterior margin; length similar to width. Four black eyes present with anterior and posterior eyes arranged in a longitudinal row; anterior eyes semi-circle, ventrally directed; posterior eyes circular. Antennae conical, ventrally directed. Palps biarticulated with barrel-shaped palpophores and elongated palpostyles, ventrally directed. Peristomium length similar to that of chaetiger 1; middle and most lateral parts protruding anteriorly. Four pairs of peristomial cirri present with longest cirri reaching chaetiger 8. Pharynx with small rod-like paragnaths in tight rows. Distribution and habitat. The species was obtained from North Sulawesi, Indonesia, inhabiting intertidal sandy shore with reef rubbles. Remarks. The single specimen in the present study agrees well with the generic descriptions of Platynereis. More specimens are required for further identification, as the present specimen is transitioning to a reproductive form (eggs seen in the parapodia of the posterior body part). While two Indonesian Platynereis species have been identified, i. e., Platynereis abnormis (Horst, 1924) and Platynereis cristatus (Horst, 1924), the present specimen is the first MZB ’ s collection of the genus.
