In this article, a robust prescribed-time convergent controller is designed in discrete time for a class of nonlinear systems. A convergent controller is first designed for a first-order and second-order difference systems. Based on the results obtained from the second-order system, a general procedure is then developed to stabilise a nth-order system at a prescribed time. A considerable advantage of the proposed control algorithm is that it reduces by one the order of the original system. Additionally, a prescribed-time controller is designed for a discrete-time multiple-input multiple-output system. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed convergent controllers.
