The article analyzes the evolution of the information strategy of the “Alternative for Germany” party in the context of the development of modern German political history. The aim of the article is to study the causes and consequences of the rise in popularity of the “Alternative for Germany” party in an open information society. The research methods used are: analytical, comparative, problem-chronological, critical. The scientific novelty of this article lies in the systematization and analysis of the origins of the “Alternative for Germany” party, the strengthening of the party’s position in the eastern and western federal states, and the information and political countermeasures against the strategy of its opponents, which was aimed at isolating “Alternative for Germany” from power at the state and federal levels. The conclusions indicate that the strengthening of the political positions of the “Alternative for Germany” party is due to the systemic socio-economic and moral-psychological problems of the Federal Republic of Germany. Initially, the German establishment did not take this party seriously. As a result, the opportunity to ban its legal activities was lost. The AfD party has become the main opposition political force. Therefore, banning it at this stage is no longer possible. The strategy of countering the strengthening of the AfD is connected with the reforms of the German welfare state. Only the success of economic development could turn the German working class away from supporting the AfD.
