This study analyzes approximately 2,600 technical writing job advertisements from http://www.monster.com and faculty postings from rhetmap.org to examine how artificial intelligence (AI) is represented across industry and academic hiring. Traditional competencies such as writing, collaboration, and communication remain dominant, while AI appears as a loosely defined expectation, framed mainly as a writing tool, technical subject matter, and collaborative context. Faculty postings more often position AI as a pedagogical and research concern than as a practical skill.
