Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of hospitalisation for lower respiratory tract infection in children. Despite not being included in Norway's national immunisation programme and requiring out-of-pocket payment, maternal RSV vaccination coverage reached 51% by September 2026. Coverage varied markedly by maternal country of birth, with lower uptake among women born outside Norway. Within Oslo, uptake appeared to reflect district-level socioeconomic factors. These inequalities suggest that lack of government funding is an important driver of unequal protection.
