This publication presents a selection of articles from the Czech media on the current Russian-Ukrainian war, written by Jan Rychlík – a renowned Czech historian, professor at Charles University in Prague, and author of numerous monographs on the history of Central and Eastern European countries, including the history of Ukraine and Subcarpathian Rus’/Transcarpathia, a respected populariser of history, and a member of the editorial board of the collection of academic papers “International Relations of Ukraine: Scientific Searches and Findings”. His original historical essays and analytical articles on history and international relations, published in the Czech Republic’s media, have attracted keen interest and received favourable reviews from both experts and the general public. Since the start of Russia’s large-scale aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, the Russian-Ukrainian war has featured prominently in the Czech professor’s publications. The Czech media regularly feature articles by Jan Rychlík on the heroic resistance to the occupiers shown by Ukrainians, who are fighting not only for Ukraine but also for the freedom of the whole of Eastern Europe and the democratic world; on the escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian war; on the condemnation of criminal terrorist acts, in particular Russia’s missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities and towns, its infrastructure and so on; and calls on the international community, particularly the democratic nations of NATO and the EU, to step up their support – primarily military – for Ukraine in its just struggle against the Russian aggressor, in defence of Ukraine’s sovereignty, statehood and territorial integrity.
