In 1942 Hannes Alfvén announced a new kind of wave in a conducting liquid threaded by a magnetic field, and in 1943 he stated the picture underneath it: in view of the infinite conductivity, the matter of the liquid is fastened to the lines of force. I credit those papers at full strength: they founded magnetohydrodynamics, they predicted a wave that was produced in the laboratory by Lundquist in 1949 at a speed approximating the formula and has since been observed across laboratory, solar and space plasmas, and the work contributed to Alfvén's Nobel Prize in 1970. The frozen-in picture the papers built is, at large magnetic Reynolds number, an excellent approximation, and my own bench's prices say so in numbers. Nothing in this paper falsifies a result derived inside that picture. What I price is the standing of the limit both results rest on. The conductivity is taken infinite — the resistivity set to zero by postulate — and no step in 1942 or 1943 derives why a real plasma's finite conductivity should be spent as infinite. My bench prices that limit on declared inputs only. On the solar corona bench the wave speed is v_A = 6.902983e+05 m/s (690.298345 km/s), and at the declared finite conductivity the magnetic Reynolds number is R_m = 8.674545e+13, with a resistive diffusion time of 1.256637e+16 s against a wave crossing time of 1.448649e+02 s — finite, however huge, against the infinity the postulate spends. On the interstellar-medium bench the wave speed is v_A = 1.091458e+04 m/s (10.914575 km/s) and R_m = 4.232653e+17, again finite against infinity spent. The frozen-in number is scale-bound: on the corona bench inputs it falls linearly with length to order unity only at L* = 1.152798e-06 m. Counted plainly: 1 infinite-conductivity limit against 0 derivations in 1942 and 1943. Grade for this census entry, printed at full size: **REASON FOUND / STILL TURNING** — PREMISE-ONLY, explicitly not a kill and not a falsification. The program headline stands unmoved: **vacuum catastrophe NOT SOLVED / PARTIAL, producing-count 0.**
