The PhyBP millimeter-wave radar system enables fast, non-contact blood pressure estimation from a 5-second sample with mean absolute errors of 4.01 mmHg for systolic and 3.34 mmHg for diastolic blood pressure.
Effective monitoring of blood pressure (BP) in daily life is a major public health challenge. Millimeter wave (mmWave) based BP measurement is an alternative that promotes convenience for the subject. However, existing solutions suffer from long measurement time and measurement inaccuracies. To address these limitations, we present a personalized mmWave radar system, PhyBP, to realize fast and accurate BP estimation. Specifically, PhyBP constructs a dynamic personal template library (DynaPT) for pulse waveform reconstruction to prevent non-physiological noisy waveforms. It further features a physics-driven coarse-to-fine-grained feature extractor (PCCF), which explores individual physical characteristics as the attention bias to extract multiscale features from pulse waves. Extensive experiment results show that PhyBP can utilize a 5-second sample to accurately predict the user's BP with mean absolute error (MAE) and standard deviation (STD) of systolic BP (SBP) as 4.01 mmHg and 4.89 mmHg respectively. MAE and STD of diastolic BP (DBP) are separately 3.34 mmHg and 4.54 mmHg.

Sheng et al. (2026) studied Blood pressure monitoring. PhyBP (personalized mmWave radar system) was evaluated on Systolic and diastolic blood pressure estimation accuracy (mean absolute error and standard deviation) (MAE 4.01 mmHg (SBP), 3.34 mmHg (DBP)). PhyBP mmWave radar predicted blood pressure from a 5-second sample with an MAE of 4.01±4.89 mmHg for SBP and 3.34±4.54 mmHg for DBP.
