Critical Behavior of Solid Solutions in the Order-Disorder Transformation

A discussion of critical phenomena in the order-disorder transformation from the standpoint of the theories of Bethe and Kirkwood is presented. A comparison of the two theories is undertaken, and the best values of the transition temperatures and heat capacity anomalies, ΔCv, for the simple cubic and body-centered cubic lattices are tabulated. The influence of anomalies in the coefficients of expansion and compressibility on the anomaly in the heat capacity Cp is investigated.
