Gart (1962) presented consistent and efficient estimators of the common relative risk for several 2 × 2 tables, together with their associated confidences intervals. A theorem on the asymptotic efficiency of general, weighted noniterative point estimators is formulated and proved. A modification of interval estimators based on log normality is given.
