Risk analysts must incorporate the principles of cultural relativism into their studies. Sensitive sociocultural groups must be identified, particularly those populations that have strong ties to their land and that may not be adequately represented in standard demographic data bases or easily investigated through an analysis of secondary literature. This paper explores the types of risk impacts that may be perceived by one special population, Native American tribes, and the current issues that influence these perceptions.
