Dynamic pelvic MRI

MRI is increasingly being used to image global pelvic floor dynamics and may be a convenient and viable alternative to cystoproctography in some instances. Dynamic pelvic MRI is especially useful for imaging cystocoele and gynaecological prolapse, which can be simply and rapidly achieved. More detailed examinations are possible but there is a corresponding increase in complexity, for example, needing evacuation within the magnet bore. There seems little doubt that dynamic pelvic MRI has considerable diagnostic impact. Clinical results are promising but there is a clear and present need for surgical studies that explore both anatomical and functional outcomes.
