Does low-dose intracoronary streptokinase improve myocardial reperfusion and long-term left ventricular size or function in patients undergoing primary PCI?
Low-dose intracoronary streptokinase after primary PCI improves myocardial reperfusion but does not translate to long-term improvements in left ventricular size or function.
In our pilot trial, the administration of low-dose intracoronary streptokinase immediately after primary PCI improved myocardial reperfusion but not long-term left ventricular size or function. These findings require clarification in a larger trial. (ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT00302419.)
