The reaction of 2‐bromo‐1,4,5,8‐tetramethoxynaphthalene ( 7 ) with sodium amide (or LDA) in the presence of a large excess of furan gave the epoxy compound 9 . The similar reaction of 2,6‐dibromo‐1,4,5,8‐tetramethoxynaphthalene ( 8 ) afforded the diepoxy compound 10 . The crystal structure of antidiepoxide 10 was determined by an X‐ray crystallography.
