This book has been awaited for some time and with considerable excitement by English speaking physicists. Their expectations had been raised by the same authors' excellent Classical Theory of Fields and by the knowledge that in Moscow there was in preparation a complete course of Theoretical Physics, monumental even by the standards of Planck and Sommerfeld.
