In this short series of articles the author considers the usefulness of the Communications Decency Act, now law in the United States, to prevent the mailing of obscene, pornographic and hate mail. In this part, consideration is given to the types of anonymity available on the Internet and how these can be achieved. We also consider the legal issues arising from the free availability of anonymous remailers on the Net.
