What are the long-term rates of appropriate therapy, inappropriate therapy, and device-related complications in young patients receiving an ICD for inherited cardiomyopathies or channelopathies?
While ICDs provide appropriate therapy in young patients with inherited cardiomyopathies or channelopathies, they are associated with significant long-term risks of inappropriate shocks and device-related complications.
We observed high absolute risk estimates for appropriate ICD therapy in young patients with an ICD indicated by a hereditary cardiomyopathy or channelopathy. Also risks for inappropriate ICD therapy and device-related complications were significant.
