Patient with severe epidemic myalgia associated with human parechovirus type 3 (HPeV-3) infection

Serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) level

Elevated serum IL-6 levels may be the underlying mechanism for severe myalgia in HPeV-3 infection.

Severe myalgia associated with HPeV-3 infection is potentially caused by an elevated serum level of IL-6.
