The paper introduces the influence of psychological factors on the shift of linguistics in different aspects that are sound change, word change and syntactic change respectively. Linguistics is the scientific study of language and its structure, while psychology is the scientific study of people’s mind and behavior. The connection between the two disciplines arises from the fact that language is a fundamental aspect of human cognition and communication. Then, the question is that what is the relationship between them. This paper finds that psychology has significant influence to these linguistic shifts. And it presents several typical evidences to support the arguments by analyzing and explaining the factors that contributed to them.
