The post operative complication rate was 11% in PR group and 31% in DSR group. One child amongst each of the groups underwent a redo reimplantation (5.8%). At the end of the 3rd year follow up, there was a significant reduction in the grade of hydronephrosis, improvement in the differential function with no evidence of obstruction and improvement in the estimated glomerular filtration rate amongst all in both groups which was statistically significant i.e., p<0.05. The success rate was 94.4% amongst those who underwent PR and 93.75% amongst those who underwent DSR. The mean follow up was 9.7 years amongst those in PR and 9 years amongst those in DSR. CONCLUSIONS: Primary extravesical ureteral reimplantation has equivalent long-term outcomes to cutaneous ureterostomy followed by a delayed ureteral reimplantation amongst infants with primary obstructive megaureters, hence it may be considered as the preferred line of management amongst the infantile population.
