Patients with an IC suffered more often from locally advanced disease (≥pT3; 41.4% vs 24.1%, p<0.001) and lymph node metastases (19.2% vs 11.4%, p=0.002). Health-related QoL improved steadily during follow-up. At T5, patients with an INB reported superior physical functioning, role functioning, less fatigue, less constipation, more diarrhea, and more financial difficulties (p<0.001, respectively). High PD (QSC-R10 ≥15) was reported by 42.6% of patients at T5. Multivariable regression analyses identified IC (OR 1.532; 95% CI 1.048–2.239; p=0.028), male sex (OR 1.669; 95% CI 1.021–2.728, p=0.041), and patient age ≤59 years (OR 1.898; 95% CI 1.169–3.081, p=0.01) as independent predictors for high PD at T5. Almost 42% of female patients reported severe urinary incontinence (ICIQ-SF ≥11) at T5. The majority of men reported erectile dysfunction, even after nerve-sparing surgery. A successful RTW was reported by 68.2% of previously employed patients (n=230). Multivariable regression analyses identified RTW as a predictor for lower PD (p<0.001) and higher QoL (p=0.018), while age (OR 7.730; 95% CI 3.369-17.736; p<0.001) was the only predictor of a successful RTW at T5. CONCLUSIONS: Female patients should be informed about worse continence rates. Conversely, men should be educated about erectile dysfunction. Aftercare should include psycho-oncologic counseling, especially for patients at risk. Further efforts by authorities and employers are needed to enable a RTW for more cancer survivors.
