In microwave communication systems, the most widely studied problem is the waveguide discontinuity problem. Since the relevant parameters analyzed in microwave devices are obviously affected by temperature, analyzing the electromagnetic thermal effects is particularly crucial. This paper introduces a multi-physics numerical approach using the finite element method (FEM) to address the electromagnetic-thermal effects in half-height waveguides. The FEM is capable of accurately modeling both steady-state and transient behaviors of electromagnetic and thermal fields, proving to be a powerful tool for analyzing electromagnetic-thermal interactions in microwave devices.
