In the paper, the electromagnetic transient process caused by the sudden three-phase short circuit at the terminals of the three-phase stator inductor winding in star connection (with the neutral point of the star isolated) of a three-phase (asynchronous) induction motor – having the polyphase induced winding rotor (cage type) in short circuit and in uniform rotational motion – is analyzed using the linear complex differential equations of the electromagnetic model in spatial phasors representative of the Engine. The analysis of the electromagnetic transient process is corroborated by the numerical results of a conclusive case study.
