Identification, study and popularization of materials on the military history of the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation remains one of the most pressing issues of modern historical science. The purpose of the study is to tell about the role of the Tatar people in the formation of militia troops in the Patriotic War of 1812 and Foreign campaigns of 1813–1814. An equally important task is to actualize interest in the military history of the Tatar people during the period of the Russian Empire as a whole, with the search and bringing into the public space the names of heroes and participants in military campaigns. A comprehensive approach based on the study of different types of sources has become the leading method for investigating this problem. Research materials: the work involves special historical studies (monographs and scientific articles); published historical sources of the first quarter of the 19th century and reference publications. The results and scientific novelty of the work: the facts of the wide participation of the Tatar people in the formation of militia troops in the Patriotic War of 1812 and Foreign campaigns of 1813–1814 were established, the personalities of Tatar philanthropists from among merchants who donated to the needs of the militia, Tatar officers from among the nobles who served in the militia troops of different central provinces were established. The biography of a veteran of the Ryazan militia, major and cavalier, Prince Asfendiyar Murtazaevich Devletkildeev is given. For citation: Abdullin Kh.M.
