Current Situation and Countermeasures for the Development of Chinese Language Programmes in Universities

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the current situation and development countermeasures of Chinese language majors in universities in China. Firstly, the paper briefly introduces the importance of Chinese language major in universities, and the background and significance of studying the status and problems of the major. Secondly, by analysing the current development status of Chinese language major in universities in terms of curriculum, faculty, academic research and students' employment, the paper reveals the challenges and problems faced by the major in its development. Once again, this paper puts forward targeted countermeasures and suggestions in terms of curriculum reform, faculty construction, expansion of academic research fields and student employment guidance. Finally, this paper summarises the whole article and points out that in the future development process, Chinese language majors in universities should adapt to social changes, constantly adjust and improve the training objectives and the quality of teaching in order to meet the needs of the development of the times.
