The Professional Training of Teachers Through the Prism of Digital Competence for Acquiring Professional Qualification ‘Teacher’

In today’s fast-paced digital age, professional teacher education plays a crucial role in ensuring that students gain the skills and knowledge they need to realize themselves in an increasingly technology-driven society. One of the key aspects of this preparation is digital competence, which refers to teachers’ ability to effectively use digital tools and technologies in their teaching practices. Through a survey among Bulgarian higher education institutions providing postgraduate training for the acquisition of professional qualification ‘teacher’, the authors examine how relevant it is to the European framework for digital competences of teachers DigCompEdu in studying the discipline ‘Information and Communication Technologies in Learning and Working in a Digital Environment’. The attention in the text is focused on digital competence as part of the basic training of future teachers who acquire additional professional qualification ‘Teacher’ within one year of training.
