The work is devoted to the study of the historical development of the principle of independence in post- Soviet Russia. It has been established that one of the directions of development in accordance with the Concept of Judicial Reform in the Russian Federation was the transition of the principle of general independence to individual independence. In addition, a classification of three main groups of sources of the current principle of judicial independence is given, and a comparison is made between a number of current and previous sources. As a result, the author comes to the conclusion that the reformation has been successful in ensuring the principle of judicial independence and the successful prospects for its development.
