In the context of geopolitical instability and sanctions pressure on the Russian economy, the urgency of diversifying logistics flows is obvious. The article analyzes the prospects for the development of the North–South international transport corridor as an important channel for Russian exports and imports. During the analysis, it was concluded that coal is the most problematic nomenclature from the point of view of railway exports, the authors identified the main ways to solve the “coal dilemma”. As a result, it was investigated and proved that the expected growth of the cargo base can be achieved at the expense of agricultural products, Russian Railways measures stimulating grain transportation along the North–South ITC C were identified. During the analysis, the containerization process was analyzed in the context of all three branches of the North–South ITC and a conclusion was made about the need to increase the volume of container traffic as the most important condition for the development of the North-South ITC.
