This research explores the impact of teachers' teaching strategies on students' learning strategies, addressing the common oversight of focusing on "what" to study rather than "how" to study effectively. Using qualitative methods, the study involved 12 student-teachers enrolled in a B.Ed. program at a higher education institute in Pakistan. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations. To ensure credibility and minimize bias, member checking and reflexivity were employed. The findings highlight a strong correlation between educators' teaching strategies and students' learning approaches, demonstrating that students tend to adopt learning strategies that align with teaching methods and assessment practices. The study discusses these strategies in detail, emphasizing their implications for educators and teacher education institutes. It underscores the importance of considering students' learning strategies when adopting different teaching approaches to foster deeper learning. Additionally, teacher education institutes should critically assess their teacher preparation programs to equip future educators with effective teaching strategies that promote meaningful and lasting learning.
