This article examines the issues of personnel shortage, its consequences for business, it is noted that personnel shortage has a significant impact on the economic development of the country, slowing down the growth rate and reducing the competitiveness of enterprises. The author's interpretation of the concept of «Personnel Shortage» is given. Particular attention is paid to the causes of personnel shortage, including: demographic changes, low level of qualification and training of potential employees, labor migration, low popularity of a number of professions, change in the value systems of the «Zoomers» generation, labor force problems at the regional level, professional burnout, imbalance between work and personal life. The relevance of the topic of the article is explained by the presence of a number of factors affecting the problem of personnel retention, including: increasing competition in the labor market, increasing onboarding costs, chronic fatigue of personnel, decreased labor productivity among adaptors, risks of loss of knowledge and experience of professionals leaving organizations, the need to develop personnel retention strategies. The article discusses ways to retain employees, including: increasing wages, forming a talent pool, corporate training programs, mentoring programs, recognition of merits and awards, coaching, creating a corporate culture, ensuring safe working conditions, and flexible work schedules. It is noted that these methods are temporary and offers the author's vision of what elements a modern favorable work environment should include, namely: a modern workspace, recreation areas, hybrid forms of employment, physical and mental health programs, modern corporate training technologies, and a human-centered approach to personnel management. In conclusion, it is noted that the introduction of elements of a favorable working environment into the practice of organizations not only helps to combat chronic fatigue, but also improves physical and mental health. It also helps to increase the productivity and competitiveness of enterprises as a whole.
