The story of the Indian National Movement is the history of the struggle by Indians for independence. It is a movement run and organized by Indians to get freedom from the slavery of British rule. The Indian National Movement actually started with the establishment of the Congress in 1885 AD, but the British rule had been established in India many years before that. The British rule in India began with the establishment of the East India Company.Initially, the objective of the East India Company was to do business in a peaceful manner. It followed the method of peaceful trade for almost a century. The East India Company could not follow the policy of peaceful trade for long. It started participating in political disputes in India. There were two main reasons for the change in policy by the company. The first reason was the disorganized and chaotic situation of India at that time. After the death of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb in 1707 AD, his successors could not keep the empire united. The internal administration got disintegrated, the rulers, nawabs, feudal lords and kings spread across different parts of the country started establishing their own separate powers and the country got divided into pieces.
