Abstract: In commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, three cofounders of the New Orleans Kid Camera Project (NOKCP)—Tara Malik, Ariya Martin, and Joanna Rosenthal—spoke with Angelica Robinson, a former NOKCP participant who joined the group at age fourteen. NOKCP, which ran from 2005 to 2016, supported young people ages six to eighteen in developing skills to share their voices through visual storytelling. This initiative honored the experiences of youth who remained in New Orleans after the storm, shedding light on their stories of profound loss and upheaval while celebrating their tenacity and creativity. By showcasing the visions and voices of New Orleans youth, the project aimed to inspire a collective healing process and to encourage dialogue about coping with pain and rebuilding lives in the face of adversity.
