Problems of Preserving Cultural Identity among the Evenki and Even Peoples in Modern Russian Society

The preservation of cultural identity among indigenous minority groups in Russia, specifically the Evenki and Even peoples, presents a significant challenge in the context of globalization and socio-economic transfor-mations. This issue encompasses the imperative to safeguard their traditional lifeways, languages, customs, and spiritual values, which are increasingly vulnerable to attrition due to assimilation and urbanization. Despite the numerous publications on this issue, there are practically no studies devoted to finding a balance in choos-ing between tradition and modernity. The aim of the study is to determine the necessity for, and potential ave-nues towards, the preservation of cultural diversity as an integral component of global heritage. This includes the maintenance of traditional practices, linguistic diversity, ritual observances, and the unique worldviews of these peoples. The study examines the current state of cultural preservation efforts, emphasizing that a com-prehensive approach is essential. This approach must consider both historical and modern facets of life for the Evenki and Even, acknowledging the dynamic interplay between tradition and modernity. Particular attention is given to the crucial role of supporting indigenous languages through targeted educational programs and the development of culturally relevant educational materials. Furthermore, the study examines state initiatives aimed at supporting indigenous peoples were separately considered, including programs to preserve lan-guages, develop traditional crafts and improve socio-economic conditions. The results obtained contribute to the development of the theory of preserving the culture and cultural and historical heritage of the peoples of Russia.
