This paper focuses on the issues of adaptation of foreign students in an intercultural educational environment in the process of studying Russian as a foreign language (RFL). Adaptation is a multifaceted and complex process of immersing foreign students in the educational environment of Russian universities. Adaptation of foreign students always requires a careful study and decision-making. The success of adaptation and training depends on the degree of consideration of the mental, psychological, ethnic, cultural and other characteristics of the personality of each foreign student individually. Foreign students find it difficult to adapt to a foreign cultural environment due to cultural differences, difficulties in self-determination, communication and everyday difficulties. There is a need to analyze external and internal factors on which the success or failure of intercultural adaptation undoubtedly depends. The increased number of foreign citizens coming to Russia emphasizes the need to search for new methods of interaction with them in order to ensure their successful adaptation in an intercultural educational environment of our universities.
