Subject. This article discusses the issues of preservation of the unity of the economic space of the Russian Federation, import substitution, development of agriculture and food industry. Objectives. The article aims to analyze the implementation of the Food Security Doctrine of the Russian Federation, and assess the impact of socioeconomic inequality of the subjects of the Russian Federation on the provision of food security in the country under conditions of geopolitical instability and sanction pressure. Methods. For the study, I used a statistical analysis. Results. The article justifies the feasibility of applying a comprehensive approach to determining the level of food security in the country. Relevance. The results of the study may serve as a basis for classifying regions according to their contribution to ensuring food security in the Russian Federation.
