Nurses are recognized as one of the fundamental pillars in enhancing the quality of oral health care. With the increasing care needs among vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, the importance of nurses' roles in oral health care has become even more prominent 1, 2. As the backbone of the health care system, nurses hold a key yet often overlooked position in maintaining patients’ oral health 3. Studies have shown that among hospitalized patients, oral health has a direct impact on quality of life, the prevention of systemic infections, and the length of hospital stay. Nurses are responsible for assessment, evaluation, and implementing preventive interventions in this regard 4, 5. However, recent research in Iran indicates that nurses, as important role models in promoting oral health, possess only moderate knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding oral hygiene and toothbrush maintenance. This situation does not align with their professional status and may negatively affect the quality of patient care and education. Therefore, enhancing nurses’ skills and awareness through targeted educational programs is an undeniable necessity for improving oral health indicators in the community 6.
