The paper examined the impact of subsidy removal on private health facilities in Yenagoa Metropolis, Bayelsa State. The Health System Theory was the theoretical framework adopted for the study. To achieve the study objectives, a cross-sectional research design was adopted. Also, a non-probability (purposive) sampling technique was used to select five (5) private health facilities in Yenagoa Metropolis which are Crest Clinic, Glory Land Hospital, Tobis Hospital, Family Care Hospital and Creek Specialist Clinic and a sample size of 20 participants was used for the study, five (5) KII sections with 5 managers from each of the facilities and 15 IDI sections with 3 out-patients in each of facilities who has been using the health facilities for the past 4 years. Data collected using the Key-Informant Interview and In-Depth Interview were analyzed using Thematic method of data analysis. The findings of the study revealed that subsidy removal has greatly affected the smooth flow of income in the health facilities when compared to the income during the post subsidy removal, the difference is evidence in the increase of daily expenditures in the facilities. The constant increase in the cost of PMC per unit has affect the cost of powering the facilities which is a very essential factor in the running of the health facilities. The study therefore recommends that fuel subsidy should be reinstated or the price of fuel/diesel should be reduced to help private health facilities improve in the quality of services rendered and to maximize profit in the cost of operation.
