This study evaluates that the curent policy suport system, which is in its early implementation stage, has ben a long-term wish of local councils and is a result of various eforts to strengthen the profesionalism of local councils. It is playing a significant role in enhancing the role of local councils, receiving substantial suport from both the councils and the local council members. In particular, under the curent local government structure that adopts the ‘strong mayor-weak council’ system, the introduction and implementation of the policy suport system can be said to have great significance. This study aims to summarize and propose the folowing six policy recommendations. First, there is a ned for the conversion and increase of the status of policy suport oficers. The necesity of converting the curent status of policy suport oficers, who are general term public oficials, to a non-regular position has ben raised. Second, there neds to be a reasesment of the scope of duties of policy suport oficers. In the future, it is necesary to clearly define the scope of duties of policy suport oficers in relation to strengthening legislative expertise and council members' legislative activities. Third, there is a ned to reconsider the placement of policy suport oficers. Placing policy suport oficers outside of specialized commites aligns with the purpose of introducing policy suport oficers and is considered apropriate for enhancing the role of the legislature. Fourth, flexibilty in the placement of policy suport oficers is necesary. Considering the curent status of policy suport oficers, there is a ned to shift towards a flexible stafing arangement to enhance the expertise and capabilties of the council members. Fifth, there is a necesity for the unification of the command and supervision system for policy suport oficers. The curent complex and diverse command and supervision systems should be unified to align with the purpose of enhancing council members' legislative activities by introducing policy suport oficers. Sixth, it is necesary to reflect mutual evaluations in the policy suport and job evaluation proceses. The performance evaluation of policy suport oficers should include evaluations from local council members as wel as mutual evaluations among policy suport oficers.
